Search engine marketing is becoming more popular every day as more and more professionals report consistently making as a much as six figures in a month from highly optimized web sites. If you are subscribed to lots of Internet Marketing lists like me, I’m sure you’ve seen the dramatic rise Adsense and search engine marketing tools.

The problem with search engine marketing is that some of the techniques that used to work six months ago do not work as well (or not all all) in the present. I mentioned two days ago that I enabled the Spam Filter on the Directory Listing .. and am pleased to say that the additions per day has dwindled from between 150-200 per day to … 5 per day.

And .. about 60% of those 5 entries were not successfully added and needed to be deleted. Please try again but .. don’t forget to select a sub-category! I am doing this so I don’t have to decide what your site is all about - if I have to decide I will delete - besides … you know best how to describe your site!

“Submit to 10,000 Search Engines” or “Submit to over 200,000 Search Engines”. This kind of ads should attract customers. It looks great to submit to so many search engines. Submission software is offered that helps to submit hundreds of websites to hundreds of search engines during several hours. What is a realistic, possible result of all these nice tools? The achieved link popularity is near Zero, but the mail box is filled by the autoresponders from the mass of FFA (Free for all) search engines.

Finding Keywords: Six Tips for Choosing the Right Keywords to Use

By Stacie Leonard

While most online marketers are ready to accept the fact that search engines can bring a large volume of low cost traffic to a website, the surprising reality is that many have little or no clue as to how they should go about doing so. Several different aspects make up search engine marketing; including submission of websites, creating search engine optimized content, interlinking websites and arguably the most important part- choosing keywords.

Keywords or keyword phrases are those terms that a potential customer uses on a search engine to look for a product or service that a website provides. So, for a jewelry manufacturer the word ‘jewelry’ would be a major keyword. Unfortunately, choosing keywords is not quite as easy as simply naming a product or category. There are many factors that should influence your decision as to what defines the right keyword(s).

Promote Your Website - Link Popularity

What is link popularity?

The quantity of links in different websites pointing to your sites is called link popularity of your website. The more popular is your site the more links you get from other websites and vice versa.

Why is it so important?

Links from high traffic websites furnish you with constant stream of visitors. Other website marketing efforts i.e. email marketing, might give good influx of visitors while the campaign lasts but the quantity diminishes once the campaign is over. Links are a different story! Once a link is installed, it might start bringing a steady flow of visitors all the time, depending on the website where the link was placed.

Featured Listing in our Directory Listing

Posted by HART (1-800-HART) in : Free-For-All Directory Listing , add a comment

As you can tell from my previously ‘whined’ posts .. that I am trying to keep the spam out of the directory listing and that I personally accept every site into the directory. It’s a free directory. However, when I first created this site I also created a “Listing Type” to have a Featured listing every 30 days - for $5.00 USD.

I have decided that this is too time costly for me to maintain and I have set the directory that all featured listings are now PERMANENT … and changed the price to $50.00 USD for this lifetime addition to our directory.

Our Directory Listing Rejection Letter

Currently, on average, I am deleting over 150 spam entries into the Directory Listing every day. The amount seems to rise to about 200-300 these past two weekends .. and I must assume that it will get worse.

My biggest “PEEVE” is that our directory listing is being added to some automated software or script out there - (probably by one of those sites that promises to include you in 10,000 or a billion websites) - and site inclusion requests are not following my pre-requisite instructions.

I’m pretty flexible to what can go in the directory site .. but every site that is included is tested to see that no porn is immediately available on the splash and cover page .. and that no virus or spyware is provided to any surfer looking at the sites.
