Do you need to hire a professional article writer or should you write your own SEO articles? You can attempt either but it is important, even if you are hiring someone else, to know a little about what’s needed for effective SEO writing. This will help you spot a great article writer.

If you want to do this yourself and have a knack for writing and are good at research, you can effectively write many articles on the same subject and get good results if you follow some solid advice.

Some people both in and outside the content business shudder when I talk about having to write large batches of articles about the same subject, especially if it’s an obscure or narrow niche topic. Many clients of mine come to me for large batches of articles about the same subject because they need unique content and that’s one of my specialties. I once had to write twenty-four unique articles about synthetic industrial rubber in a span of a few days. Another time I wrote fifty articles about Spyware in a few days. Once I wrote 700 short articles in a month about online learning. Last month I wrote 53 articles about Florida real estate investing. You’d better believe it was very tricky to not write the same thing over and over!

As a business, when you want to increase your inbound links , improve organic SEO, or build awareness of your products online, article writing is a fabulous idea. You can use the articles on your site and sprinkle them throughout cyberspace to help increase your site’s visibility and traffic levels. The idea of writing multiple articles on the same subject can be daunting though and this is where an article writer can come in handy.

How do I write so many unique articles on one topic?

Writing many articles on one topic is sometimes easy and sometimes it’s not a simple task. Depending on the subject matter and the type of articles and goals my client has I might take several approaches. When a batch is really large, sometimes I split it into several smaller batches so I can concentrate on multiple ideas. Breaking a topic down into ideas can help. Keyword research can also help tremendously. Sometimes you can figure out just what to write about on a topic by finding out what others are searching for. Look at what the top Google results are about too! Sometimes, clients have several different keywords and that’s a great way to differentiate articles. You can also write several articles with the same idea but with different words. Some of my other approaches are my own secret golden formula and the ability to get creative and use a thesaurus comes in handy in my line of work. I do also sometimes split batches among several writers as well so that the articles can be truly unique. When you get stale on a subject you can be surprised at what someone else can come up with!

I often take a batch of keywords or a list and start by extensive researching and then some brainstorming. Fairly quickly it can be evident what approach and ideas might work and be interesting or entertaining. I know that when I write a large batch (or even a small batch) of articles, I need to accommodate two tasks.

* First, I need to make the articles readable and interesting.

* Second, I need to make them attractive to search engine spiders.

I do keyword research and take a Long Tail approach and very often you’ll find that when you look closer at articles I write for you that a single article is really optimized for more than one keyword. I’m hoping to give you value and increase your results by making the article more likely to be indexed multiple ways. More relevant keywords equals more relevance on a subject according to users and to search engines. Spinning Articles

At times I have to spin articles a little. This might mean repositioning a few paragraphs and then rewording them. This can create a whole new article about the same subject but one that wouldn’t be discovered by a duplicate content filter. While we don’t want to regurgitate the same content over and over, when you are submitting to multiple article directories you might want to use this approach at least minimally to get more mileage out of your articles.

When you need to reach a wide audience by way of several article directories, re-titling, writing unique meta descriptions and spinning the article content can work to your advantage. The most important thing about articles for your company is that you have unique and varied content in the article writing that accomplishes the task of piquing the interest of the reader as well as meeting the needs of search engines.

If you want to be successful in internet marketing, you have to know how to get listed on search engines. There are certain steps you can take to facilitate this, and also certain things you must not do, or you will fail.

The secret to success is to make your website as relevant to the keyword it is targeting as possible, and to make the site easy for the search engine spiders to follow. It does not matter how many pages your website has: each page that is important must be able to be easily crawled by the search engines, and each page that has less relevance, or is less important, should be hidden. You should have a good long look at every page in your site and decide whether or not it is providing good information on the topic to a visitor.

If you decide that it is not, you should then decide whether or not the page is necessary, and whether it should stay on the site. If not, then remove it. If so then keep it on, but hide it from the spiders using ‘rel=nofollow’ in your html. You must not overuse this but neither should you expose pages to the search engines that do not offer good and relevant content to visitors as spiders perceive it. Examples of pages that might not do so, but that are necessary on your website, are affiliate sales pages that you want visitors to look at, but will not add to the perceived value of your site in the eyes of search engine spiders, or squeeze pages designed to collect email addresses, but that do not provide good content related to the subject of your website as a whole.

Once you are sure that every page on your site that the spiders are allowed to crawl provides good content, then you can work to improve that content. Do not use too many keywords. If you site has been built around the subject of American Literature, the use the words American Literature no more than three times every 500 words. Forget the old advice of 1% – 3% keyword density. If you used your keyword 15 times in a 500 word page or article, you would have very little chance of Google listing you.

The search tricks that I am going to show you in this article are a combination of different media searches that search engines have and some search strings. Utilizing these methods that I am going to show you will bring back results of the media files you want to find on a particular webpage that you are reading. Such as audios, videos, PDF’s, images, and flash presentations. For the purpose of this article I am going to use one site and show you how to find all of the different media files within. The site I am going to use is www.incredible-adventures.com, this is a extreme vacation/adventure website, other than it being a cool site the reason I am using it is because this website contains all of the media files above.

Images

Google is the best search engine to use to help you find the images on a page, it has its own image search called Google Images. You can find Google Images simply by going to google.com and selecting the images link above the normal search box (very easy to find). Once your within Google Images the only results returned when you search here are images relating to your search term. Now this is a great way to find images on almost anything you search for, but were going to take it one step further. Were going to find only the images that are within a specific site, which can be any site you would like. For the sake of this article though I said we were going to use the incredible adventures site. To perform this search you type in site:www.incredible-adventures.com. By adding the site: directly followed by the web address this will only return images within that website. Go ahead and give this a try using the incredible adventures site and you will see that there are 2,300 images throughout the entire site. This can drastically cut down the time it might normally take you to search for images on a website of your choice.

Audio

Audio is becoming quickly a very popular way to get a message across on the internet. Many more sites nowadays have different audio files available. For this search we are going to use the search engine AltaVista. When you get to the homepage of AltaVista you will see you can perform a MP3/Audio search. This works the same exact way as the Google Images trick does. You type in site:www.incredible-adventures.com (or whatever site you want to look through) and you get back only the audio files contained on the website. With my incredible adventures example it only returns one audio file. But go ahead and try it just so you can understand what I’m saying and see for yourself how it works.

Videos

For videos I find the best search engine to use in Yahoo. Same thing applies here as the previous two tricked I discussed. Once at Yahoo.com click to search through videos. Now type in again site:www.incredible-adventures.com bearing only the video files within that website. Go try this with my incredible adventures example and you will get 47 videos returned.

PDF’s

Again we return Google, which I find being the best search engine for the next trick. This is how to find any PDF documents that a site may contain. Within the search box you type filetype:pdf site:www.incredible-adventures.com (or again whichever site you want to find PDF documents in). If you use my incredible adventures example above you will notice it returns 62 different PDF documents within that website. Incredible Adventures has a PDF document on every single one of their adventure vacations they offer. This allows people to print out this nicely formatted document ot read and find all the information they would want and need to know about the vacation they would like to go on. PDF’s are extremely useful in providing much information and many sites offer them about all sorts of things. The only problem is you may not find the document just navigating throughout their entire site, but this trick mentioned above makes it a whole world easier to find them.

All of these tricks above I personally find to be extremely useful in my never ending quest to find more information. Please go out and use these things I taught you next time you are trying to use the internet as a means to gather information and knowledge. I promise you will find them useful and uncover useful and cool things you otherwise never would have found.

The next article in this series is going to be a brief article on how you can use different strings to get back results containing different file formats. Certain file formats can be useful for a variety of things Excell spreadsheets can come in handy for people running a business. People who like to read documents that can be printed out instead of from their computers might prefer to search for information in PDF format. Powerpoint documents are another great way to learn, these slide shows can be extremely powerful.

These strings are a little bit different than the ones in the previous article. Instead of typing the string before your search term you must type it afterwards. For example if I wanted to search for a document in PDF format I would type in internet marketing filetype:pdf you must remember though always type the search term followed by a space then filetype:(whatever document you want to search for and there is no space in between the colon and the filetype you want to search for. So just to show you one more time, “internet marketing” that is going to be my search term, then you type the filetype. It would look like this, internet marketing filetype:pdf.

filetype:pdf

This allows you to search through all documents that are in PDF format. You must have acrobat reader downloaded on your computer in order to read this file type. These are great for people who want to read say an extended report on something but prefer to print it out and curl up on their couch as opposed to staring at the computer screen.

filetype:rtf

This is a Rich Text file which is a mix between plain text and rich text. Rich text meaning text that can be bolded or italicized, things of that nature this is very similar to what the text looks like in a word processor.

filetype:doc

This bring back results showing all Word documents. These are often what people use to write out reports or papers for school and other such projects. Simply is just a word processor and text formatting program. However there is much good information that can be found within these files.

filetype:xls

Excell spreadsheets. Plain and simply put you will get returned any results that have excell spreadsheets pertaining to your search term. These are useful for many business owners. They can record stats and results of things happening over a period of time.

filetype:ppt

The Powerpoint string brings back results of Powerpoint presentations pertaining the search term you chose. Just like all of the previous strings. Powerpoint presentations are extremely useful learning tools. These presentations are in the form of a slide show, having almost the same learning effect as the overhead projectors used in school to take notes. Many teachers use this method of teaching in school at all levels from elementary all the way through college.

These search strings mentioned above can be of great power to someone researching on the internet, whether it be for a school term paper, someone in the internet marketing field researching for their business. So go ahead and try using some of the strings mentioned above next time your surfing the web looking for good information.

This is going to be a series of articles that is going to help you do exactly what the title suggests “Make the most of your search”. In this series I hope to help my readers get a better understanding of how not only to enhance the way they search the internet, but open them up to new sources to find all sorts of good relevant information.

The first part of this series is going to be a few simple search tricks. There are things you can put into the search box of just about any search engine, especially Google that can help you find what your looking for a lot quicker. Some of these tricks will bring down the number of results you get from millions to thousands possibly hundreds, bringing you more relevant/quality information.

Quotations

The first little trick most people don’t know about is to put quotations around their search term. Now you may ask what does this do? Simple, when doing this the only results that will show up are ones that have those exact words in the exact order you typed them into the search box. For example if you just typed in dog training techniques you get 11,900,000 results. Now you will notice that the words you typed in may come up scattered throughout the listing, but not the whole phrase dog training techniques right in a row. Now go ahead and type in “dog training techniques” and you get back 29,200 results. WOW that is a drastic change in the number of results shown, and notice all the words in that phrase are all next to each other in a row. This one simple trick can help you find more quality results a lot quicker, being that this really narrows the search down quite a bit.

The next few tricks are all search strings that can greatly help you narrow down your results, especially when combined with the little quotation trick mentioned above.

allintitle:

The allintitle: is a search string. Simply all you have to do is type allintitle: and then without any space type in your search term. So for dog training techniques it will look like this allintitle:dog training techniques. What this will do is bring back search results that have the all the words in that keyphrase in the title of the webpage. Now doing this brings back 149 results, all with the words in that phrase within the title. Go ahead and put quotations around the term combined with the string and you get back 75 results. These are all high quality to someone searching for that term, because the exact words they are looking for are all located in the title so these pages must be good pages for dog training techniques.

allintext:

The next string is the allintext: now can you guess what this will do? If you can’t I of course will tell you. This works the same as the allintitle: string, except this will only bring back results that have your keyphrase in the text of the page as opposed to the allintitle: string which only shows results within the title. Now this doesn’t narrow down the results quite as much as the allintitle: string but that is simply because there is always way more text on a page then text within the title. Nevertheless this still helps narrow down the results from a plain search. And this too can be more narrowed down if you encase your search term within quotations.

allinurl:

On to the next string allinurl:, this string brings back only results that have your keyphrase in the URL of the webpage. Obviously this works the same as the other strings, you type the string directly followed by your search term. The quotations used here will show you only sites that have your search term not only just in the url, but the words exactly in a row, in the url. This as well can bring you back way more relevant results than just simply typing your search term in the search box and hoping for the best.

allinanchor:

Now this string may seem a little tricky, but I assure you its not. The results you will get back from this are results only with your search term somewhere within that webpage, as a link. So if we typed in allinanchor:dog training techniques, any website we goto from those results will have a link somewhere on that page within the text dog training techniques in it. For any internet marketers you will know precisely how this can help you out.

Now these are a few nice tricks that can really help you get back more quality relevant results. In the next article of this series I will be discussing a few strings that can help you search different type of file formats, such as Word documents, PDF’s, Excell documents, Powerpoint etc.

There’s a simple idea in the world of online business that everyone agrees with: more people see your web site = more potential customers = more business.

But beyond this simple point, agreement among internet know-hows tends to go out the window. Almost every webmaster has an opinion on the best way to increase web site traffic – and surprisingly, not many of them agree.

There are probably many reasons for this lack of agreement. But of the many, there are two unquestionable big ones. The first reason most online advice-givers don’t agree on how to increase web site traffic is that there’s not one perfect way to go about it. Web site traffic can be successfully improved in a handful of different ways.

The second reason, as you’ve probably noticed, is that most people giving advice have something they’d like to sell you. They want to sell you a solution and their advice needs to be related to what they’re selling.

Whether or not these sales people have your best interest in mind is open to question. But what’s not open to question, is the fact that there ARE many different ways to increase website traffic.

And of these many ways, there are 5 that have a history of being very reliable and effective. Not only do these 5 methods have a high performance record, but at least one of these five is essential for anyone that wants to have a regular flow of new customers to their web site. And the good news is, 4 of the 5 methods can be done with little or no money.

If you’re serious about bringing more traffic to your website – and tired of wading through online advice – take some time to consider these 5 time-tested ways before you invest another minute:

1. Search Engine Optimization (SEO) – This is probably the most recommended way to increase web site traffic. And for good reason: it works. Having your website atop search engines like Google and Yahoo! is a sure fire way to bring people to your site. Where this method often gets confusing is in the number of different ways that people suggest doing it. Some tell you to use your keywords often in the text of your web page. Some tell you to put your keyword phrase in the alternate text of your images. Others tell you that the key to a high search-engine ranking is to have other related sites link to your site. And all of this advice is correct. There are other steps to take as well, but the problem is, not many sites give you all of the needed steps in an organized way. I’ve included a link below with a detailed explanation of all of these steps.

2. Newsletters – A newsletter is nothing more than a series of pre-written e-mails that are sent to people who request them from a form on your web site. There are a few tools, like auto responders, that help make this task easy and efficient. Newsletters are a very powerful because they give you an opportunity to build credibility and make repeat customers out of the customers you already have.

3. Article Directories – Article directories are websites that take submitted articles and store them in a data base so online magazines and newsletters can use them for publication. The exchange that takes place is this: you write an article and allow any website to publish your article. In return, they are obliged to leave your name and e-mail address in the byline of the article. When your article is published online, a link to your site is also published, and potential customers who read your article are likely to come see your website. If your article is published in multiple online sources, a link to your site is also published in multiple online sources. A well written article can be picked up over and over again. In the end, you’ll have a regular source of new customers without spending anything more time than it takes to write the article.

4. Pay-Per-Click Advertising (PPC) – PPC advertising, like search engine optimization, is also a very talked-about way of bringing traffic to a site. The idea here is that search engines advertise your business web site; and you pay a particular fee each time someone clicks on your link and comes to your site. All of the major search engines like Google, Yahoo!, and MSN have PPC advertising programs. Depending on the market you’re selling to, PPC can be a very profitable way to bring interested customers to your site. On the down side, it’s the only one of these five ways that is sure to take some kind of money investment.

5. Improving Your Website – This sounds very basic but it’s often overlooked. It does not do a lot of good to bring potential customers to your website if your site is not ready to serve them. Any profitable website needs to be attractive, easy-to-use, and professional. Making sure your site has all three of these traits will go a long way towards making the most of the people that do see your site.

By taking some time to consider the 5 methods above, you’ll not only be familiar with the 5 most proven ways to increase traffic. But you’ll also have a way to measure and organize the other traffic-increasing advice you find online.

In the end, making an informed effort to increase website traffic is never a bad idea. It can lead to better business exposure. It can lead to huge increases in customers. And it will definitely lead you to more profitable and productive online business.

By Luella May

Finding the right keywords for your own website or articles is not easy. In fact it can be quite daunting a task, especially if the keywords or keyword phrases you do choose never get searched for by anyone using the popular search engines through Google or Yahoo searches for example.

So how do you know if the keywords you’ve chosen or are considering for your site or article is actually searched for by anyone? Do I simply guess? You ask, or is there some magical way of getting a free helping hand from somewhere, that could help you to determine what keywords or phrases to actually use, ones that are at least being searched for by real people.

There is a little known webmasters tool that can go a long way to helping you choose your Keywords and it’s actually totally free and provided by Google itself, and is called Google Suggest.

http://www.google.com/webhp?complete=1&hl=en

How Does It Work

Now I use this free tool so much that I’ve set it as my homepage, and it works by automatically filling in the search box with suggestions as you type with relevant keywords which have been searched for by its customers, so lets say for example your site was about auto repairs, as you start to type several suggestions start appearing below the search box. Actually auto repairs as of publishing this article had 17,600,000 searches, this information is on the right in green, and by scrolling down the list you’ll see another good set of words is auto repair manual with a search result of 2,900,000. so now we have 2 good keyword phrases, if we then juggle around the words we have already into say, repair manual auto we are expanding and get a list something like:

Ø auto repairs………… 17,600,000 searches
Ø auto repair manual…… 2,900,000 searches
Ø repair manual auto …… 3,080,000 searches
Ø repair manual automotive 1,600,000 searches
Ø automotive repair… 7,870,000 searches
Ø automotive repairs… 1,800,000 searches

You can quickly see how, from the resulting suggestions presented by Google anyone can begin to develop a substantial list of keywords in a very short time for any given base idea, which you can then easily include into your website meta tags or within your articles knowing that these terms are actually searched for by real people, so chances are that by utilizing these keywords or phrases regularly, into everything you publish, you may in fact get ranked higher for these terms over the longer period.

This is only one method of finding and using good keywords. There are many other ways, far beyond the scope of this article, but it should have given you a quick and free insight into the whole daunting process, and show you that armed with just a basic free tool like the Google Suggestion tool, keyword finding just got a whole lot easier from now on.

Here’s to your continued success

By Monica Corral-lorica

Web content is one of the most important factors that search engines look for in a website. The search engines are in constant search for fresh quality web content. Because of this, webmasters and website owners must equip their websites with updated and fresh content regularly. Web marketing experts advise webmasters and website owners to add new content on their website whenever they can. Web content is beneficial to webmasters and website owners because it helps them get higher search engine ranking. Other than that, new content is also beneficial to online users because they provide new source of information.

Aside from updating your website’s content, do you know that you can actually manipulate your website’s content? In doing so you will finally get the high search engine ranking you are aiming for. Different search engines have different algorithms in deciding what rank your website deserves. However, one thing that all the search engines are looking for is fresh web content. And these web marketing techniques presented here applies to the major search engines.

How To Manipulate Your Web Content To Get Higher Search Engine Ranking

Web content is vital to a website’s existence and search engine ranking. There are some web marketing techniques that you can use to manipulate web content and get higher search engine ranking. Here are some of the web marketing techniques that allow webmasters and website owners to manipulate their web content and get higher search engine ranking:

• Google Webmaster’s Account.

Once you have a Google account, it will be easier for you to get your updated web pages submitted. This is a great advantage to webmasters and website owners. Google offers a submission tool that allows webmasters to submit a single changed or updated web page. The Google submission tool makes it easier for webmasters to tell Google about the latest updates on the web pages.

Webmasters can get more benefits from the Google submission tool if they have a page with a constructed navigation system. This way, Google spiders will crawl the website as often as a new page is added or updated. Because of the benefits of a Google submission tool, webmasters are advised to secure a Google Webmaster account.

• Make all web pages live.

Keeping your web pages live gives you added benefits in terms of your website’s search engine ranking. Remember not to delete a web page. If you have deleted a web page, you must create a redirect page that will lead site visitors to the new page.

• Interesting Web Content

To make your site visitors stay, create relevant, up to date and interesting web content. Interesting web content will tempt your site visitors to stay on your website. In doing so, there is a higher chance that these site visitors will be converted to customers.

• RSS Feed Tool

An RSS feed tool is necessary if you want to reach your target visitors. A website that uses RSS feeds needs new content regularly. RSS feed is like newsletter where you send your target market web updates in their inboxes.

These web marketing techniques maximize the benefits of your web content. So if you are asked the never-ending question of how often to update your web content again, the answer is simple: OFTEN!

By Marty Fiegl

If you’ve done any marketing in the last 6-12 months you’ve no doubt heard about the duplicate content penalty.

Web search engines (mainly google) have been slowing improving the technology they use to determine which pages get the penalty (if there really is a penatly).

So for starters let’s remember that search engines index PAGES not websites. So when we are talking duplicate content penalty we are referring to pages that are getting penalized not sites.

However, if you have a site that is mainly duplicate content it may set off a red flag and get your site penalized or banned.

So, what has happened over the last 6-12 months in the online marketing world is people have come out with ways to create original content like…

- Write the content yourself. You could do this if you had a blog or were pretty passionate about a topic but otherwise this would take you forever and cost vs return on invest this way isn’t worth it if you want to really create a ton of useful content.

- Hire a ghost writer from sites like rentacoder.com to write new content (probably one of the best solutions if you can get a good writer who can meet deadlines, writes original content and doesn’t borrow too much) the negative of this method is cost. You will pay $4-15 for a 400+ word article.

- Buy a Private Label Rights membership and get 100+ PLR articles a month. This is OK if you find a site like thisone.com or thisone.com where you can trust the creator of the site and its userbase (and they limit the number of articles).

- If you already have PLR articles or a membership you could get a article re-writer to re create the articles. These can be expensive and some don’t work very well.

Sidenote: If you don’t believe there’s a duplicate content penalty then another reason to not have the exact same content would be because if 100 people before you put the content on their site they were indexed first and will most likely rank much higher then you for the same thing. No ones going to page 100 to find your copy of the same content.

Ok, so you can do the above but those aren’t the 5 ways I was refering to in the subject. In fact I’m talking about going beyond this.

Why? Because, you may be thinking duplicate content is an apples to apples comparison of two websites for the same content and if there’s enough percentage different then it won’t be duplicate content.

This is NOT 100% true. In fact it’s not 50% true.

There is no percentage threshold to say what will be considered duplicate content.

Why? First remember these search engines index and crawl billions of PAGES. They aren’t comparing one or two pages to each other. They are taking a sampling of data from many many sites and comparing them all.

They check things like… 1. File Name 2. Directory Name 3. Domain Name 4. IP Addresses 5. Incoming Link Text

You can see what the spider actually takes from your site by going to google and typing in site: www.mysite.com and then clicking on the “cached” link at the end of the listing and then click “cached text” at the top of the page that loads.

Google claims to do about 100 different things to determine a pages listing result (PageRank, Keyword Density, incoming links). So to end up with duplicate content you’re going to have to set off more then one flag.

And there are a few other factors to consider. Such as the first part of the page as being more important than the lower content.

I feel this is one of the most overlooked aspects to duplicate content. The idea that what’s near the top of the page is the most important to visitors and the search engines.

So what do I do to create a ton of content and feel confident I’m not going to be the same as 1,000,000 other websites?

I do everything I said above.

- Create My own content – Pay for ghostwriters – Use PLR articles and use software to re-write them

And I go one step further by adding content to the begining of the content (which can be as simple a sentence or two pulled from an RSS feed or hand typed in for each page).

If you’re interested in a Free Content Rewriter you’re in luck.

I’ve recently had a content rewriter created called the Free Content Wizard and it’s 100% FREE (until I decide it was a stupid idea to pay lots of money to get it made and then give it away).

But, it’s really more then the typical writer. I bought 3 different software products from people ranging from $67-150 and they all worked pretty much the same. They all had the same problem.

Words were replaced but a lot of times the sentences started making absolutely no sense. They all used synonyms which is great, but I wanted an end result that was really unique AND human readable. (so if you own one of these rewriters already you’ll want to check my Free one out and compare it because you’ll probably switch to using mine all the time).

What I ended up with was the Free Content Wizard which you can get FREE access to at: http://www.FreeContentWizard.com

by Earl Juanico

Several complaints from marketers have been cropping up recently out of attempting to use popular and prevailing social networking sites to market their respective businesses. These marketers primarily complained about not getting any real traffic in order to make sales by advertising through these sites. Essentially, the social networking sites that they are referring to were a waste of time to market on because these did not produce any immediate marketing results. Nevertheless, these marketers are really missing the whole point of the social networking process. This article somehow makes a bit of clarification regarding this issue.

Barefaced marketing on social networking sites just would not work. The marketing approach has to be far more subtle. Marketers who wish to use social networking to their advantage must somehow aim their target quite differently. The goal is increase your presence on the Internet by building back-links from a major traffic site, and building your brand so that potential customers can indeed find you on the Web.

Increasing your presence on the internet is especially important if you are a novice when it comes to marketing your products and services on the Internet. You have to establish a presence, and a big one, if you want to be actually discovered by your target market. The mantra of those who are so overwhelmed by their egos is, “build it and they will come.” These people mistakenly think that their sites will be found without any marketing effort at all. This is of course anathema to successful marketers. One has to get out there and promote oneself in order to sell one’s products and services. Because social networking sites are high traffic, you have a better chance of being found if you get out there and build a presence.

The search engines are constantly “spidering” these sites. If you want to get your site “spidered” then building a profile on these sites will help the search engines find you and then ultimately, your customers can find you. Nevertheless, one should remember not to blatantly sell on these sites. Create a profile that tells everyone about you and your products or services. Include links to your website, or if you have more than one site, all of your sites. Make your profile keyword rich with keywords from your topic.

By branding yourself, whether you are a writer, or you are simply selling your own products and services, you will need to resort to shameless promotion if you want to make the sale. When you brand yourself, you are attaching yourself to a specific topic. You become an expert on the topic. Writing articles and posting them on your blog on these social networking sites can help others become aware of your products and services. This in turn builds and establishes value, and by contributing to these sites, you are not only building value for them, you are building value for you.

The key is to use a soft sell approach wherein you need to establish your credibility and expertise in order to be trusted by prospective clients. Get others to trust you and believe in your products. Then you will make the sale. It might need quite a deal of effort in building your credibility, but there is no reason to neglect the effectiveness of marketing your business online through social networking. There is no harm in trying anyway and successful social network marketers can attest to this claim.
