The files have finally been copied over to the new server, and this will be the last post on the old server.

I will be changing the Nameserver to stop pointing this domain to the old ISP#2 (as I call it) to the new ISP#3 location.

As such, if you can read this post .. the nameserver changes has NOT kicked in, but should be doing so within the next 12-24 hours (or so). From experience, I have noticed that it is not an instant change and there will be some areas of the world that will be able to view the site on the new server before others are able to. Eventually, it should all work out!

Once I see the changes takes into effect myself .. I will start posting immediately on this blog.

Then .. STAGE TWO will take place .. making sure everything works and the transfers were completely successful. So if you see anything wierd or unusual .. please drop me a line – hart (at) PetLvr (dot) com – and let me know! Thanks.

Take care

By Mark Fortimer

Your navigation must be simple to follow, and no navigation visible to spiders should take them away from your webpage. You must also start working on getting some good links back to your website. Links work best if they are directed to specific pages on your site, and not to a ‘links’ page. However, not all links are good. All one way links are good, where you do not have to provide a reciprocal link back to the other party’s site, but these are getting increasingly more impossible to get.

If your link is a reciprocal link, whereby you both provide a link to each other, the site with the lower Google page ranking gets the best deal. If you have a page rank of 5 and a site with the normal page rank of 0 to 3 asks you for a reciprocal link, they will get more benefit from it than you will. So, while you need links, get them intelligently. However, if you find negotiation for links difficult, also keep in mind that even links from new sites are better than no links at all.

Finally, contrary to what everybody tries to tell you, especially those selling search engine submission services, there is no need to submit your site to a search engine. A true search engine such as Google, or Yahoo now that it is more than just a website directory, searches the World Wide Web for websites containing keywords relating to the terms used by Google customers. You don’t have to ‘submit’ a site to have it spidered, and sometimes it is better that you don’t.

It will help, however to submit a sitemap to both Google and Yahoo, and both of these search engines provide information on how to do that. If you learn how to get listed on search engines by carrying out these simple logical steps, then you should be able to generate free traffic every time you have a new website that you want published on the internet.

If you’ve been messing around online, chances are you’ve come across the expression “social bookmarking”. The really basic explanation of social bookmarking is that it’s like taking some or all of your “Favorites” folder and storing it online. So you can login from any computer, anywhere in the world, and access your important URLs.

Sounds great, right? It makes life much easier if you don’t need to carry around a list of URLs, or email them to yourself so you can login to your favorite sites from an Internet cafe. But that’s not all that social bookmarking can do. You can share your list of favorites with other people. So if you know other people who are interested in the same things as you, they can check out your list and discover what new and exciting sites you’ve found about that subject.

So if you’re using the internet to market your service or website, it stands to reason that there must be some way of using social bookmarking to your advantage. If you’d like to see what it’s all about, head over to http://del.icio.us which is one of the most popular social bookmarking services. On the main page there are numerous URLs, with a descriptive heading. Just beside each heading, in faint letters, are the words “save this”. If you click on “save this”, you will then either need to login to your account, or create a new one. You can then add this URL to your list, put in your own description, tags or notes, and it’s done.

You can even check out the “settings” area of your account to import your current Favorites folder. But social bookmarking is all about telling others, so that’s what comes next. If you have your own web page, you can grab some code, load it into your page, and add a “save this page” button to all the pages of your website. The code can be found under “help”, then “For Publishers” and continue to the “Feeds and Tools” section.

If you’re serious about getting the word out about your site, then get friends and families to either go to your site and use “save this page” to add it to their social bookmarking list, or they can do it directly from the social bookmarking site. It’s important not to load your social bookmarking account up with junk, and go easy on overdoing it too, or you may find your account suspended.

To help you get started with social bookmarking, I recommend that you check out an automated social bookmarking tool called the Auto Social Poster. This tool will allow you to automatically bookmark pages of your wordpress blog. It does the tedious work so that you can focus on other aspects of your business.

Read more about it here: http://www.mass-automation.com/specials/idevaffiliate.php?id=218_8 (affiliate)

Social bookmarking is still in its infancy, but if you learn the ropes and get started, you may well find it makes a big difference to your online marketing efforts.
